Fan Fest Chicago brings Heroes & Villains together with Walker Stalkers
Oh March 25th and 26th, the Donald E Stephens Convention Center housed the first ever combination event featuring Walker Stalker Con and Heroes & Villains Fan Fest. Both conventions draw in fans and celebrities, artists, and vendors on several dates through the year. Bringing the two conventions together also brought with it a different atmosphere, and it’s one that won’t soon be forgotten.
The stars of both conventions are some of the biggest names in entertainment, so the crowd is always indescribable. From incredible cosplay and one of a kind costumes to artists and designers with immeasurable talent, you feel immersed in all things pop culture. That being said, the merging of both conventions meant this year, Chicago wasn’t just home to walkers and the undead one weekend and to superheroes and villains on another, it was home to a mix of both. Fans saw Spiderman with Carol and Negan meeting The Flash, Carl and Harley Quinn crossing paths alongside Black Panther and baby Daryl. The entire set up was one memorable experience, it brought friends and families together.
In addition to the crowd, celebrities mingled (as much as they could with their busy schedules) and the panel stages were full of cast members from today’s biggest television shows and films. From the Church & State Panel to Guardians of the Galaxy and Best Buds to Sons of Anarchy and even the Cosplay Contest – there was never a dull moment. As always, these Q&A sessions gave fans an interesting perspective of the characters that our favorite celebrities play and a little bit of insight into what makes them who they are.
We talked to a few fans at the convention and as usual, they sang the praises of their favorite celebrities while saying they enjoyed the experience as a whole.
‘Milo was one of the sweetest people at the convention, I’m glad I decided to jump into his autograph line’.
‘Jeffrey Dean Morgan was worth waiting in line for. He could have rushed fans through but he took the time to speak to them and pay attention to what they had to say. He’s a good guy’.
‘The Bisquick challenge is one of the coolest things this convention does. We always bring some canned goods to participate when we go to talk to Michael.’
‘Michael Rooker is exactly what we hoped he’d be, meeting him was the highlight of this weekend for us.’
