Stephen Amell Shares His Opinion on Social Ratings “Arrow is not going anywhere.”

Walker Stalker Convention and Heroes Fan Fest combined this weekend in Chicago for the first ever Fan Fest event, and first up on the panel stage was Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell.

Amell addressed all things Green Arrow with his fans including his very strong opinions about social ratings for television shows. James Frazier, the owner and CEO of Fan Fest asked Amell if there is any misconception that he wishes people would forget. What he says? Ratings.

“They don’t matter.” He says of the much acclaimed Nielson Social Ratings that many shows are judged upon.

Lately, Arrow‘s ratings have not been as strong as they have been in the past, but they’re still in the millions. Last week’s episode raked in 1.3 million viewers down from the first episode of the season which hit 1.8 million. Episode 508 hit over 3 million viewers.

The popular opinion is that the better the ratings, the longer the show will survive, but, Amell says he disagrees with their importance.

“Arrow is not going anywhere.” Amell assured fans.

What do you think? Do people put too much stock in social ratings, or are they a good indicator of a show’s success?
