Lady Gaga Makes History with Super Bowl Halftime Performance

The Super Bowl is one of the most legendary nights in sports. It’s the place where bragging rights are won and dreams are within reach and where, quite honestly, victory has never tasted sweeter. This year, The Patriots took on The Falcons and so far; The Falcons are definitely proving that this is their year, they want the big win.

Lady Gaga is a legend herself, which made her performance one of the most highly anticipated of all time.  She opened up the big game last year but her stage time was brief, fans were much happier to know that she’d be taking the stage for the half-time show this year. In the days leading up to the big game, Gaga provided us with sneak peeks of rehearsals and on the big day, a gorgeous photo of her lying on the field with her parents.

Lady Gaga showed us all up, however, when she started her performance in a sparkling bodysuit and makeup and looked so gorgeous we don’t have words to describe it.  They actually opened up the roof of the stadium so that Gaga could dive off of the roof while being suspended by wires. She did that.

After opening up with ‘God Bless America’ and ‘This Land is Your Land’ and the Pledge of Allegiance, she broke out into a medley of her biggest hits.  She sang ‘Edge of Glory’, ‘Just Dance’, “Poker Face’, ‘Born This Way’, ‘Telephone’ and ‘Bad Romance’.  She even had her microphone carried for her so that she could sing and dance around the stage, did we mention that she’s an absolute stunner?  From her looks to her vocals, she demands your attention.

Gaga slowed things down with ‘Million Reasons’ as she sat at the piano, shouted out her mom and dad, and walked through the audience before hugging a fan as she asked “Why don’t you stay” who definitely began crying, and so did all of us at home.  Fans assisted Gaga with a light show that made the stadium look absolutely beautiful, that is if you could take your eyes off of her for a second.

She ended her performance with a mic drop before catching a football and jumping off of the stage. Leaving the crowd cheering loudly. Many fans wondered if she would be political in her performance but she, as she always has, let her music and her heart speak for themselves instead of being outwardly challenging. Lady Gaga’s music and spirit are about all of us belonging, just as we are, to one another; she embodied that during her performance tonight. No other statement was necessary.
