Who Wore It Better: Batman and Bruce Wayne

As many of you know, I am a huge Batman fan.  Whenever there is a Batman movie on, it’s the first thing I would put on.  Out of all of the actors who have played Batman and Bruce Wayne, who played him best? I asked a bunch of my friends and co-workers who they thought did it best.  I gave them the choices of Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck.  I can tell you the race was a close one at the end.

Bruce Wayne

6. Val Kilmer

Batman Forever (1995)

Chiseled jaw line? Yes. Handsome? Yes. Bruce Wayne? Not quite. A for effort.

5. George Clooney

Batman & Robin (1997)

Honestly I expected Clooney to be a bit higher on the list, just because well, he’s George Clooney.  I blame the movie.

4. Adam West

Batman (1966-1968)

One of the most well known actors to have played the part.  May not have been the ideal Bruce Wayne, but he pulled it off.

3. Michael Keaton

Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992)

Michael Keaton, one of the most well known actors who played Bruce Wayne.   That’s what got him to number 3.   He didn’t really have the chiseled jawline and bigger body build that we expect Bruce Wayne to have after being Batman, but he did Bruce justice.  Though in the movie, it makes me wonder how no one knows who Bruce Wayne is.  The movie may have not been the best in the world, but hey, for 1989 they did what they could with it.

2. Ben Affleck

Batman vs Superman (2016), Justice League (2017)

A very close second.  Affleck still has a lot to show us when it comes to him playing the part of Bruce Wayne.  It looks like in Justice League he will show us that he is meant to play this part.  I was very skeptical of him playing Batman in general, but he pulled it off.

1. Christian Bale

Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Handsome and mysterious.  Just how Bruce Wayne should be.  Bale played Wayne perfectly.  No wonder he got voted to number one!

Batman

6. George Clooney.

Batman & Robin (1997)

“Batman & Robin” was one of my most watched Batman movies when I was little.  Though as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize, not one of the best movies out there.  Needless to say, George didn’t really have the Batman look.  The bat nipples were not the way to go with this one.

5. Val Kilmer

Batman Forever (1995)

So Val was not the best Batman out there.  Instead of just having bat nipples, he also has a bat bulge.  Sorry Clooney, he one upped you on that one.  Again, Val just didn’t have the Batman look.

4. Ben Affleck

Batman vs Superman (2016), Justice League (2017)

The newest Batman has a lot to show us.  Ben hasn’t done half bad, and it is hard to base it off of a movie that was more than just Batman.  Looking forward to what Affleck has to offter.

3. Adam West

Batman (1966-1968)

Ah one of the most iconic Batman’s out there.  POW! BAM!

2. Christian Bale

Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

One of my all time favorite movies.  I remember going to see Dark Knight at a showing in King of Prussia at 2am! Bale did a great job playing Batman.  Only downside, is his voice as the movies went on.

1.  Michael Keaton

By far the best played Batman out there! He was true to the character and made it an unforgettable movie.

Honorable Mention

Will Arnett as Lego Batman

Because why not?! It’s Lego Batman!!
