Ahhh, 2016…  You were one hell of a crazy year and, let’s face it, you weren’t really nice to the pop culture world.  With so many legends taken from us and with so much turmoil going on all over the world, it’s definitely been a bit of a downer (whooomp, whoooomp!).

Natasha Jagger:

“I’m going to WSC London, I’m so excited to meet Jeffrey Dean Morgan whose work has helped me through a tough year! Also, 2 weeks after [WSC London], I turn 20 so I’m celebrating my birthday early at the con.

In May, Alien: Covenant comes out at the cinema and I am so excited for this film. Katherine Waterson is one of my favorite actresses and to see her doing big budget projects in comparison to her doing independent/smaller movies.  Makes me so proud!

In July, I’m going to British Summertime festival to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stevie Nicks and The Lumineers! Stevie Nicks is personally my queen. I have a tattoo in honor of her and as a fellow sister of the moon!

Finally, in October, I will be at WSC Atlanta, my first time to America and, fingers crossed, I’m going to help out with Fan Fest and volunteer at the Con with a group of friends!”

Katie Anderson:

“I’m super excited for Beauty and the Beast, as well as Outlander Season 2.

Music-wise, there’s rumors of a new MuteMath album (bonus: it’s a collaboration with 21 Pilots), which is always cause for celebration in my book.

Speaking of books: there’s a new book by Cassandra Clare coming out in May. Lord of Shadow is the 2nd in The Dark Artifices series, a companion series to The Mortal Instruments and exciting for Shadowhunters fans.

And if there is a merciful literary god, we just may get Winds of Winter – the next A Song of Ice and Fire book by G.R.R. Martin (who apparently ghost-wrote 2016).”

Sarah Leonard:

“Looking forward to another Walker Stalker event. Hope to be more involved this time around. Also looking forward to Justice League, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor.”

Jessenika Colon:

“First of all, I’m looking forward to hopefully no more iconic celebrity deaths.

I’m also looking forward to Justice League as Sarah said, Comic Con, and meeting the Fan Fest family at Walker Stalker Con and HVFF!

I’m also looking forward to King Arthur, John Wick 2, and Transformers!

Can’t forget the most important one:  looking forward to more of The Walking Dead, of course and, can’t wait for the Iron Fist!”

Maxime:

“Hype is over 9000 for Logan, Justice League, the new Spider-Man: Homecoming and Alien: Covenant!

I’ll also be a volunteer in WSC London for the second time, and I’ll try to do a “road trip” in the US this summer (From France, that’s a big deal).”

Allie Fire:

“Here are a few things I am looking forward to in 2017: new TV shows like Midnight Texas (based the book series by Charlaine Harris), the return of favorites like Mr. Robot, Better Call Saul & Game of Thrones, attending & reporting from conventions like Walker Stalker, New York Comic Con, & C2E2, and (of course) more Walking Dead!”

McKenzie Morrell:

“Luckily, the thing I’m looking forward to most in pop culture in 2017 is right at the beginning of the year! Because who wants to wait, when 2016 has been such a sh*t storm… Anyone who knows me, or reads my recaps, knows I’m a die-hard fan of The 100, and my beloved sci-fi series just so happens to be returning for its fourth season on February 1 on The CW. Weeee, can you tell I’m ecstatic? Because, I am! Now, this show got a lot of flack in 2016 — and rightfully so, with its sudden and immoral departure of one of its most beloved characters, Lexa, BUT with a new year comes a whole new season. And I truly do think with Season 4, it’s going to be like a brand new show, basically… my apocalypse-loving heart just can’t wait.

Oh, and I’m stoked for Wonder Woman, because DUH… you can’t go wrong with women kicking ass in the New Year.”

“I love movies!  I don’t always get to watch them the moment they arrive, but none the less I see and love them. 2017 has a bunch of movies I am excited for, I have been waiting Wonder Woman since my birth.  I arrived and demanded a live action Wonder Woman movie! I was ignored for 26 years but, yay for 27!

Other movies I am excited for in 2017 are:

Justice League
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
Beauty and the Beast
Lego Batman

I am also incredibly excited to attend the HVFF/WSC in Chicago in March. I didn’t start The Walking Dead until this year so that will be awesome.

I am also excited that we are finally going to get season two of Sense8 on Netflix in May. The Christmas Special was great but I need at least another 10 hours of that show in my life ASAP. The only other show that I can hardly wait for is the return of Twin Peaks, what an odd show to bring back after so long!!”

Julia Valenti:

“I’m looking forward to Heroes and Villains London!! It will be my first time in Europe and I can’t wait to meet the Cosplay Group: Team Arrow UK!”

Dr. Fangirl, PhD:

“There just aren’t words to describe the feeling of heartbreak that 2016 has given so many of us. It’s been a very, very hard year to be a geek, not to mention to be a female geek or to just be a human being in general. I do have hope for 2017, however, because let’s face it… we just have to have hope! Luckily there are some fun things planned that I’m hoping will enhance my life in some awesome ways. First off, we are expecting a new nerd edition to our family in March. While this means we won’t make it to HVFF Chicago, it does open the door for all manner of fun nerdy baby stuff… Snuggle like a Muggle onesies, super hero costumes and photo shoots, and the like. 😉 If all goes well, I’m also hoping to take the kids to their first HVFF in Nashville in June so that my 4 year old daughter, who is OBSESSED with super heroes, can FINALLY meet the Green Arrow as she’s wanted to for much of her young life. 😉 She loves watching Stephen [Amell] on social media, though admittedly even more than that, she loves following Mavi and all her funny snapchats and videos. Getting to see Stephen and others in real life I know will be a true thrill for her if we can make it happen!

As for me personally, I am fully looking forward to the New Kids on the Block touring this summer. The last time they went on tour I wasn’t able to go since my mother was seriously ill, and I miss my boys! A Jonathan Knight hug can cure many ails, and I’m hoping against hope that I can get one. 🙂 Please, 2017… let us have nice things! We need them!”

Brianna Martinez:

“In terms of TV, I’m looking forward to seeing iZombie come back! It’s been too long. Also crossing my fingers for more Pitch! I’m excited to see my favorites come back and see how the second halves of their seasons go.

In terms of movies, definitely looking forward to Wonder Woman, Beauty and the Beast, the new Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Hoping to attend another HVFF this year, too!”

Shikha Bajracharya:

“I am looking forward to movies, movies, MOVIES!!  Specifically, Wonder WomanGuardians of the GalaxyStar Wars VIII and Beauty and the Beast.  I definitely can’t wait to volunteer at and attend more WSC and HVFF conventions.

TV wise, I can’t wait to see our Walking Dead characters finally getting a leg up on Negan and his crew and to see what’s going to happen on Game of Thrones and Stranger Things.

And last but not least, I’m looking for less tragic news! I can’t take much more bad news between deaths and the election; I’m hoping things can only get better.”

Jen Ryan:

“I am the most excited to finally see Stephen King’s The Dark Tower come to life on the big screen. This series is my personal Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or Game of Thrones. The heroes and characters of this story are so well written and mean so much to me personally, it makes the wait to the summer release a hard one to wait out. I’ve read the series through several times, and while I know its going to have variations from the novels, I’m most excited to see what this version of mid-world brings.”

Tracey Phillipps:

“Can’t wait for a release date for Stranger Things season 2 so I can start planning a Stranger Things viewing party!!!

I’m also very excited for Walker Stalker Con Nashville. It had such a fun vibe last year, loved the town and loved the pace of the con! Oh, and to find out what will become of Proxy Snyder (played by Peter Jacobson) now that he’s no longer actually Proxy on Colony! Season 2 starts January 12th!”
