Liam Neeson has a very particular set of skills. Skills that he has acquired over a very long career. A career which has led him to an audition for, perhaps, his biggest role of all time, Santa Claus.
Thanks to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, we have a copy of his “audition tape” and it is hilarious.
Like the pro that he is, Neeson effortlessly delivers his line, “I see you when you’re sleeping. I know when you’re awake.” However, his delivery is a little more Taken and a lot less jolly old St. Nick.
Neeson then tries to convey that he’s, “making a list and checking it twice.” When the casting director asks Neeson to try the character again but, in a less intimidating manner, Neeson insists his portrayal is spot on, “Do you do you understand what Santa is saying here?” he asks. “He’s making a list — naughty, nice. He’s detailed. He’s single-minded. He’s an eye in the sky bringing swift judgment.”
Neeson even has some choice words for the reindeer who ran over Grandma (while she was walking home on Christmas Eve). To that deer, he vows, “I will look for him. I will find him. I will kill him.”
