This year, the new Ghostbusters reboot took place in the theatres, and Sony Pictures was very confident that a sequel to the movie would happen. It didn’t seem as successful afterwards in the box offices, but director Paul Fig is still hoping very much that he can take on the sequel. Of course, we haven’t heard anything about it actually happening, but we are sure to get more movies in the future.
Ivan Reitman, who was the original producer and director of the movie in 1984, took the role as a producer for the reboot. Ivan Reitman sat down for the Mr.Wavy Podcast through Comicbook.com, and told them there was still a lot in the franchise its cards for the future.
“There’s going to be many other Ghostbusters movies, they’re just in development right now.”
This changes our views and thoughts of everything. Does this mean that the sequel to the reboot will happen?
There were a lot of rumors in the past of a whole line of Ghostbusters movies in the make. One of them being the Ghost Corps (banner bellow), one of them was even going to be a full new movie that would be starring Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt (I would love to see that happen with Chris Pratt). There were also rumors about an animated Ghostbusters movie.
All that we do know for sure, is the fact that Sony Pictures will do everything in their power to keep Ghostbusters in the cards for them. Even if the sequel won’t happen, they will find a way to keep the supernatural themed movies coming.
