‘The Walking Dead’ Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan Talks About Getting Flipped Off by an Angry Fan

When Jeffrey Dean Morgan decided to take on the role of the worst villain in The Walking Dead universe, Negan, he may not have quite realized just what he signed on for.  Sure, he researched the role and the show but, little did he know he was stepping into one of the most intense fandom worlds of all time.

Lucille 2

Morgan recently stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio and, during an on-air interview, he shared a story of one of the craziest fan encounters he has had so far.  Keeping in mind that, to date, he’s only been on the show for approximately 13 minutes, this fan encounter is pretty hilarious.  Morgan tells a story of when he and Norman Reedus (who plays Daryl Dixon on the show) were out riding motorcycles:

“We had been riding motorcycles all day and we were in the middle of nowhere and stopped to get a coffee. And this lady is at our car, and she’s probably 80 years old, and she comes up and just flips me off and says ‘F— you!’ And Norman falls off his chair, laughing, and I’m like ‘Whoa! Whoa!’”

Can you just picture this happening?  We certainly can!  Especially the part where Morgan says Norman falls off his chair laughing.  But the encounter didn’t just stop there.  Morgan continues:

“It was crazy!  And she did have her daughters with her, by the way. But then her next question is, ‘Where do you live?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to tell you where I live!’”

At least Morgan is taking it all in stride.  This moment, as well as his recent attendance at Comic Con has shown Morgan that he has officially become a part of something big; something special and something loved by fans all over.  He is ready for the reactions from The Walking Dead fandom:

“It’s that kind of passion, which is awesome.  We’ll see what happens after the first episode airs. I’m not convinced that my life is going to be totally awesome, as far as the fan base, after the first one. I think it’s going to take a minute. I think it’s going to take a minute for people to get to know the character and love to hate him as opposed to just the hate.”

Love him or hate him, Negan will complete his cliff-hanger grand entrance when The Walking Dead returns with the highly anticipated season 7 premiere Sunday, October 23rd at 9pm.  We are almost there, guys!  One more week!!
