Then, after the initial legalise (do not record this movie or else we will eject you from the theater and force you to delete said footage from your phone and/or we will send She Hulk to deal with this matter (I may have made up that last one)), we got an introduction from the star of the movie, and geek superstar, Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness, Sherlock). It was at this moment that I realized why Marvel delayed the release and production of Doctor Strange: because there are very few actors who can take a character that is known or established and not only introduce the audience to the character, but also give enough artistic leeway so the actor can bring a unique and interesting take on a character that makes the character their own. Benedict Cumberbatch is one of those actors. He is someone who can both respect the material and give a performance that envelopes the audience. Add onto his worldwide appeal to his fanbase, and you have an actor that can take an important but not primary Marvel character and introduce you one of the more interesting characters in the whole Marvel universe: Doctor Strange.

Now, after some humor regarding using his powers as the Sorceror Supreme to show how awesome seeing this movie in IMAX 3D, we delved into Doctor Strange. I will still need to read the Doctor Strange prelude comic and read some Doctor Strange books, but visually speaking, the footage was breathtaking. Doctor Strange will clearly be Marvel Studios’ most special effects-laden film; however, from what I saw, it will not be a distraction. In fact, when you explore the mystical realms, be introduced to the Marvel multiverse, and see Doctor Strange and the other various characters in action, you will be amazed. With Marvel’s trademark humor and smart storytelling, Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange is poised to be another breakout hit like Guardians of the Galaxy. November 4th cannot come soon enough! Now show me more than 15 minutes!
