‘Once Upon A Time’ Recap: A Bitter Draught

Don’t fall asleep on me, ya hear? The latest installment of Once Upon A Time left us with some serious questions on the brain… with a dream draught from Morpheus and some serious insomnia ensuing, I was sitting in my bed watching episode 2, just paying it wouldn’t let me down. And it didn’t. Now, the one thing that I will stand behind on this show, other than the Evil Queen’s cleavage, would have to be the fact that there is no good or evil. Much like in the real world– lines are blurred, and no one is inherently good or bad… it really depends on what’s around them. With that being said, Regina doesn’t want to be evil again, I know that this is something she’s been struggling with. For quite some time, even more so after she parted ways with her more maniacal half. But, I’m sure there will be a time where she succumbs to that poison apple…

Hook is trying to redeem himself, but again, do I really care? I don’t think that his redemption is something that has been earned or what we’ll see moving forward this season. And Rumple, don’t even get me on him– I love Robert Carlyle, but the croc has got to go.

Rumbelle is pretty much dunzo, thank the Lord! I know that all of you shippers out there might still be holding out hope, and perhaps that’s something y’all can do to pass the time– but I will be utterly disappointed if the show goes there… again. It’s just not compelling enough without some serious reworking of the story. It’s just so odd to see Belle preggers, chillin’ on the Jolly Roger, all while some deranged person is trying to seduce Rumple. Nope, I’ll pass thanks.

I’m a bit let down that there wasn’t any Aladdin this week, I know that many of us viewers have wished for him in this episode, and sadly we were greeted by shady characters in coats (fierce ones) and more mystery surrounding the Count of Monte Cristo. My hero vs villain barometer is seriously skewed, I don’t know if he’s good or evil… with his heart in the Evil Queen’s hand, one can never be too sure.

My poor baby Regina is still trying to clench onto her own conscience. She is desperate to not let that evil side of her reign supreme, but how long can she really hold out? Shouldn’t she embrace the evil and work at taming the beast… since we all have a little evil in us anyways. I’m not sure. Purging herself from her not so good half might not have been the answer. The Evil Queen is terrorizing the town of Storybrooke and everyone in it. Dark magic is a tricky thing, ain’t it. EQ is trying to lure out this evil, with a graveyard (shocker), snake venom (yum), and Rumplestiltskin (figures)…

I really want to know what is behind Emma’s visions. I was elated to see that she was opening up to someone… about these visions… but, these glimpses are seriously giving me the heebie jeebies. I just want to know if Regina is the one who ends her life. Tell me now. Tell me. Tell me! Haha. I will say that Once Upon A Time continues to charm the pants off– I mean, really utilize these new storylines, and cast some much needed suspense on the series. No matter who’s behind the mask, which untold story lurks around the corner, or if Regina and EQ finally merge together again… I’m so here for it.
