1980’s Teddy Ruxpin Toy Gets a Modern Day Upgrade

Hey 80’s babies!  Remember Teddy Ruxpin?  Well, he’s baaaaaack!

For those of you who many not remember, Teddy Ruxpin took the world by storm during the 1985.  He was one of the world’s first animatronic toys and everyone’s favorite reading companion.  Brought to life by playing a cassette tape through a compartment in the toy’s back, Teddy Ruxpin’s eyes and mouth would move while the bear told stories which children could read along with in a book.

New Teddy Ruxpin, from Wicked Cool Toys, has been given a complete technological overhaul.  The toy prototype comes with Bluetooth technology, LCD eyes and over 40 animated expressions that are synched to stories all contained within a 4 gig hard-drive.

With just a squeeze of the toy’s hand, Teddy Ruxpin will begin telling one of his 40 programmed stories.  By syncing the toy with the free app, children will be able to read right along with the toy on the smart device.  The words become highlighted as Teddy Ruxpin reads them and pages of the e-book will turn automatically along with the bear’s story.

Though the toy won’t be hitting shelves until August of 2017, YouTubers at The Mommy and Grace Show got a first look at the new cyber bear.  Check out their video below!
