What’s your Patronus?
“The Patronus is a kind of positive force, a projection of the very thing the Dementor feeds upon – hope, happiness, the desire to survive…” – Remus Lupin.
Pottermore has a new feature where you can discover your own Patronus!
If you remember correctly, the Patronus was first introduced in Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban. The Patronus Charm is a defensive spell which creates a guardian that takes the form of an animal. It’s in this book that we learn that Harry’s Patronus is a stag, like his father’s was.
And in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix we learn that Hermione’s Patronus is an otter, Ron’s is a Jack Russell terrier, Ginny’s is a horse and Luna’s is a hare. They discover theirs during a Dumbledore’s Army practice.
The Patronus is the only spell effective against Dementors.
My Patronus is a Sparrow.
JK Rowling herself took the test and tweeted “… so as far as I’m concerned, the @pottermore test works! Here’s my Patronus…” She got a heron!
