AMC Believes The Walking Dead Will Be Around for Years and Years

There’s an old saying that says too much of a good thing soon stops being a good thing and it’s almost expected that the things we love will eventually lose their sparkle.  This happens in multiple facets of entertainment; from music and television to films and novels – some things just don’t stand the test of time.  There are staples, however, to the entertainment industry which fans never tire of.  From films like Star Trek and Batman to television series’ like How I Met Your Mother and Law and Order – some things never go out of style.

Another one of those staples is a sort of ‘history in the making’ scenario and luckily for fans of pop culture, we’ve got a front row seat to one of the most incredible television shows of all time.

You walk outside, you risk your life. You take a drink of water, you risk your life. Nowadays you breath and you risk your life. You don’t have a choice. The only thing you can choose is what you’re risking it for.”

The Walking Dead isn’t just blood and gore, it’s not just horror and the undead; it’s a show with a soul and most fans find ourselves relating to the characters we watch on television each week.  The internal battles that play out on screen are a lot like the ones we’re experiencing too – just without walkers trying to eat our brains – and it makes you want to tune in each week to make sure your favorite character figures it out, that they get their happy ending somehow.

Fans of the show aren’t the only ones that see longevity for The Walking Dead, in fact, AMC Networks President and CEO Josh Sapan doesn’t see an end coming for the series anytime soon.  At a conference on Wednesday, Sapan had a lot to say about what potential The Walking Dead has, and how it could be something that lasts for “many many more years”.

“We do think that we have a franchise (in The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead) that is one of the rare franchises that you occasionally come across in what we do for a living.”

The entire team behind TWD can be thanked for that belief, from the producers and directors and the other incredible people behind the scenes to the cast members who devote so much of themselves to the characters and also to their fans. The Walking Dead isn’t just a tv show, it’s a sort of subculture and that is just more proof that it’s definitely something special.

As far as The Walking Dead is concerned, it seems that there will never be ‘too much’ of a good thing – and we’ve certainly never been happier.
