Monday Night Match-up: Negan vs. The Governor
Well, it’s about that time, my friends, for me to ‘nerd out’ for another Monday Night Match-up, and we are back to DC vs Marvel style! So far you have voted via social media that Oliver Queen would take the crown versus Hawkeye. You voted that Captain America would beat Batman. Thor was voted to beat out Superman. Deathstroke killed The Winter Soldier. Sara beat Natasha by the mere single digits. Atom squashed Ant-Man in the final tally. Ghost Rider blazed pastJohn Constantine for the win. Wonder Woman came out on top with a victory over Lady Sif. Deathstroke dominated once again against Frank Castle. Dare Devil pulled ahead of Green Arrow in a no-weapons melee match. Thor recently squashed the almighty Wonder Woman in an extremely close match. Colossus smashed Bane for a drastic victory. Deadshot out-shot Bullseye for an incredible victory. Katana sliced into Elektra for a brutal victory. Gandalf the White defeated Dumbledore in the greatest wizard battle ever held. Damien Darhk pulled ahead of Magneto is a villainous battle. Hawkman flew right past Archangel for a glorious victory.
Time for something a little different on this National ‘Talk Like a Pirate’ Monday. The new Season of The Walking Dead is fast on approach, and we are extremely excited for it to debut. There has been a lot of talk about our newest tyrant, Negan. I mean all-in-all, Negan is pretty badass… but so was another villain we had seen on the show. Anyone remember The Governor?
How cool (and epic, to be honest) would it be if these two were to face off against each other??
They’re the two biggest ‘bads’ in The Walking Dead universe, afterall. David Morrissey brought the Governor to the screen back in season 3 and wreaked all sorts of havoc before he was ultimately dispatched in season 4. And now Negan has burst onto the scene with his barbed wire-covered baseball bat named Lucille.
The two never overlapped in either the comic book or the TV show, but what if they had? Who would come out on top in a Negan vs. the Governor battle? Entertainment Weekly recently interviewed Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan on the show and asked him the same question.
“It’s not even close. I mean, I love David Morrissey, but he wouldn’t stand a chance. Wouldn’t stand a chance. I’d put Negan up against anybody. He’s super smart and there’s no filter, no fear. The Governor was a little bit wack. Negan’s got it together. It wouldn’t even be close. And I’m sorry, ‘cause I really love David. He’s awesome. I worked with him for a year and there’s just not a better guy. But Negan versus the Governor wouldn’t be close.”
