Thursday has fallen upon us once again, my friends! That means it is time for another ‘Throwback: Thursday’. Lately, social media has been abuzz with all of these superhero movies that are starting to roll on out. (Well, at least the trailers are). I actually went to a Monster Mania convention in New Jersey this past week, and there was this vendor who had all of these ‘throwback’ DVD sets. One of the ones that caught my attention was Batman: The Animated Series. I actually loved this show as a kid, so naturally I got extremely excited when I saw this. Also, since the release of Suicide Squad there have been a lot of GIFS on social media of Batman, Harley and the Joker posted from the show.
Batman: The Animated Series is an animated television series based on the DC Comics superhero Batman., and it was produced by Warner Bros. It first aired on September 5, 1992 on Fox Kids and continued with a total of 85 episodes until September 1995.
The series was praised for its character development and darker tone. IGN listed Batman: The Animated Series as the best adaptation of Batman outside of comics, the best comic book cartoon of all time and the second best animated series of all time. Batman: The Animated Series received so much praise and acclaim from critics, that it led the series to win four Emmy Awards.
The series is also notable for its supporting cast—a number of well-known actors provided voices for various classic villains, most notably Mark Hamill, (Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy), who voiced The Joker in the television series.
Did anyone else watch this show growing up?!
