Reboot Alert! ‘The Lost Boys’ TV Series is Coming to the CW

With fans still grieving over Season 8 being the final season of The Vampire Diaries, it looks like the CW is looking to keep the vampire theme alive with an announcement that the network will be taking on a reboot of the 1987 cult classic film The Lost Boys.

After a bidding war, the reboot finally landed in the hands of Veronica Mars and iZombie creator Rob Thomas who will be responsible for creating the updated spin on the classic film.

The original film stars Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, and Corey Feldman and follows the story of a mother and her two sons, Michael (Patric) and Sam (Haim), who moved to a small town in California.  They quickly find out that the town is overrun by biker gangs and is a magnet for mysterious murders.  Sam meets some local boys who claim to be vampire hunters while Michael meets a girl and gets mixed up with the biker gang (spoiler alert, they are vampires).  When Michael starts displaying strange behavior, like sleeping all day and staying out all night, Sam begins to realize there may be some truth behind the tales his new vampire-hunting obsessed friends have been telling him.

The new show will reportedly run for 7 seasons, each season covering one decade of time (70 years total) and following the unchanging “Lost Boys” throughout time.  The first season will take place in San Francisco during 1967, aka “The Summer of Love” and, each following season will see a change in setting, synopsis and supporting non-vampire characters.
