‘Sausage Party’ Star Seth Rogen Pranks Supermarket Customers with Talking Food
The R rated animated comedy, Sausage Party, opened in theaters this weekend and, is surprisingly getting somewhat favorable reviews from critics. One review from ABC News has said, “Sausage Party delivers on the party and the laughs. And while it falls just short of instant classic status, I have a feeling it might launch a trend of raunchy animated R-rated movies.” Not bad for a film about talking food, right?
The movie follows Frank, a sausage (voiced by Seth Rogen), and a bun named Brenda (voiced by Kristen Wiig), who believe that a paradise awaits them, just outside the supermarket in “The Great Beyond” until a returned jar of honey mustard (voiced by Danny McBride) reveals the world outside means danger for their food friends. The film also stars the vocal talents of Michael Cera, James Franco, Bill Hader, Salma Hayek, and Paul Rudd, just to name a few.
What better way to promote a film about talking food by actually making food talk! That’s exactly what Sausage Party star Seth Rogen decided to do. Rogen and his buddies placed an animatroinic cantaloupe, loaves of bread, and a gigantic sausage into a real New York City store in order to surprised shoppers.
Once the initial shock of witnessing talking food wears off, these New Yorkers create some truly hysterical moments. Check out the hilarious prank below and, make sure you check out Sausage Party, now playing in theaters, nationwide.
