The Secret Life of Pets has been released in theaters for less than a month however, just yesterday, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures announced that a sequel for the film has been greenlit.
The film has already grossed over $400 million at the global box office with over $300 million of that amount coming from North America. With several market releases still a head overseas, that number will surely climb significantly over the next several weeks.
The Secret Life of Pets sequel will see the return of director Chris Renaud as well as writer Bryan Lynch. Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri will, once again, team up with Janet Healy to produce.
The first film only hit theaters in North America on July 8th, 2016 but, it is already become Illuminations second major franchise after Despicable Me and Minions.
The Secret Life of Pets sequel is scheduled to hit theaters July 13, 2018. In the mean time, get comfy and CLICK HERE to meet the pets of the Fan Fest News team. Also, be sure to check out our Fan Fest News EXCLUSIVE interview with film star Hannibal Buress!
