Khary Payton Cast as Ezekiel on ‘The Walking Dead’
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. . . . . .
AMC released their Walking Dead season 7 trailer today at San Diego Comic Con and a HUGE and awaited character made his first appearance in it, along with his feline friend.
Ezekiel has officially been cast and will be played by Khary Payton.
You may recognize Payton’s voice, as he is known as the voice of Cyborg on Teen Titans Go, Aqualad on Young Justice, and has also lets his voice to video games like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Batman: Arkham Origins.
You can listen to him talk here in an interview from another SDCC!
The character of Ezekiel is a former zookeeper and runs a survivor camp called The Kingdom. He is known also in the comics for his wardrobe (see below), his dreadlocks, and his pet tiger Shiva! Shiva made an appearance in the trailer today and boy does she look FIERCE. Ezekiel is allied with Jesus and also hates Negan and his Saviors. YES!
We have had a quick glance at one of Ezekiel’s soldiers saving Carol & Morgan, and a possible reference to The Kingdom seen in a shot of Morgan sitting on a couch at the end of season 6.
Our crew is in big trouble right now, at the mercy of Negan’s bat. Will Ezekiel be the one to save the day? What do you think of his casting?
