Monday Night Match-up: Sara Lance vs. Natasha Romanoff
Well, it’s about that time, my friends, for me to ‘nerd out’ for another Monday Night Match-up, DC vs Marvel style once more. So far you have voted via social media that Oliver Queen would take the crown versus Hawkeye. You voted that Captain America would beat Batman. Thor was voted to beat out Superman. Recently, Deathstroke killed The Winter Soldier in the last poll. Now, with the announcement of the upcoming ‘Captain Marvel’ and the possibility of the stand-alone ‘Black Widow’ movie coming our way, I thought about trying out a round of superhero ladies! Particularly, legendary ‘assassins’, Sara Lance and Natasha Romanoff!
One thing is for sure, given their intense training and various skill sets, neither one of these ladies would go down easily.
Caity Lotz is famous for bringing The White Canary and prior The Canary to life in the CW series’ Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, respectfully. Scarlett Johnansson has also made her mark in the superhero universe as Marvel’s Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, portraying multiple Marvel films. Both of these actresses have done a phenomenal job in their various roles, and I absolutely love what they each have brought to the screen as their respective characters.
You know the drill! If these characters cinema personalities were to wage their own ‘battle’ (Whatever the reason) onto each other… Who would come out the champion? Let us take a closer look at their abilities and skills, and you determine the outcome. It’s a DC vs Marvel match-up!
Sara Lance (The Canary/The White Canary) Abilities:
Abilities
- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Sara has been trained for years under Ra’s Al Ghul, in the League of Assassins and is extremely proficient in advanced forms of hand-to-hand combat.
- Stick Fighting: Sara is extremely skilled in the art of stick fighting, and has been trained to use almost any item as a weapon.
- Archery: Even though her primary weapon is her bo staff that can separate into two batons, Sara shows expertise with a bow and arrow whenever she uses one.
- Expert Marksman: Sara is an extremely accurate marksman.
- Stealth: Sara has been trained to be an extremely, deadly assassin and has mastered the art of stealth.
- Acrobatics: She has displayed on many occasions that she is an expert in acrobatics, and often uses this skill while evading enemy fire.
- Sonic Device: A handheld non-lethal Sonic weapon used to disable large groups of people. A modified version of the ‘canary cry’
- Expandable Baton: She uses a pair of expandable batons to fight. They are able to combine into a bo-staff.
Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) Abilities:
- Master Martial Artist: Natasha is an expert in many fields of martial arts.
- Acrobatics: She has displayed on many occasions that she is an expert in acrobatics, and often uses this skill while evading enemy fire.
- Expert Marksman: Natasha is an extremely accurate marksman.
- Expert Tactician: She is a very effective strategist, and tactician.
- Espionage: Natasha is a dangerous secret agent trained in espionage, stealth, and infiltration.
- Black Widow Gauntlets: Natasha uses a number of special equipment contained in her gauntlets, including the ‘Widow Bite’, which is a high frequency electrostatic charge that can deliver charges up to 30,000 volts.
Jules Vote: Sara Lance and I’m only saying this thanks to her being resurrected from the Lazarus Pit. Because she was resurrected from the dead, she has gained an almost ‘blood lust’ that occasionally comes out in battle. Even though she is eventually able to get a handle on it, she can inflict serious enough damage. Natasha has more self control.
