Hey @robertdowneyjr and #chrisevans, want to take a road trip? I will drive you guys down. #Repost @hizrarejwl with @repostapp. ・・・ This is Ryan Wilcox, he's an 18 year old guy from San Diego battling cancer and he absolutely LOVES Captain America and the Avengers and what we want for Ryan if possible is to meet the actors and actresses of the Avengers, especially Chris Evans who plays Captain America. He isnt doing too well and this would be a major way to boost his spirits and quite frankly be the best moment of his life if he literally got to meet his hero! Please share this to help get the attention of Chris, Robert, Scarlett, and the rest of the Avengers cast and try to make his dream come true! ‪#chrisevans #avengers #makeawish

In a matter of days – to no one’s surprise – Chris and Robert dropped everything and got together with Gwenyth to travel to San Diego and help Ryan’s dream come true.  The fact that these two embody bravery and compassion both in and out of character shows that if one cares enough, you don’t need super human powers to create magic.

Chris, Robert, and Gwyneth were all smiles in an Instagram video mid-flight on their way to surprise Ryan and we can only imagine the look on Ryan’s face when two of The Avengers showed up at his door, for no other reason than to celebrate him.  Those posting Ryan’s wish stated that his cancer treatments were taking a toll on him and he wasn’t doing well at the moment, which made the timing of this visit all the more important.

There are many photos on social media, specifically Instagram, of Chris, Robert, Gwyneth, Ryan, and some of his family with the hashtag #RyanStrong and it looks like, for the day, the pain Ryan usually feels was replaced with happiness, hope, and brotherhood.  Few things are more important than that.  The look on the faces of Robert and Chris speak volumes too, they’re both humble and respectful, treating the visit like more of a blessing for themselves than for Ryan – in true hero form.

Chris took to Twitter following his visit and expressed this thanks to the Wilcox family, Gwyneth, and Robert, and Ryan for making his own day special.

The Marvel cast goes above and beyond in film and off screen and this is just one of many examples of that.  When you take on a role like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, or The Hulk you usually end up being an idol to millions of fans all across the world, and lucky for fans of Marvel – their superheroes prove that ‘it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice’.
