‘The Simpsons’ to Feature a Live, Interactive Segment with Homer

This month, The Simpsons will go somewhere they have never gone before. They will be going on air LIVE!

The last three minutes of the episode airing on May 15th will be a live, interactive segment during which fans of the show can call in and speak with Homer (voiced by Dan Castellaneta) during a Q&A type presentation. The episode, titled ‘Simprovised’, will center around Homer trying to rebuild confidence and public speaking skills through improve comedy after he botches an important speech at work.

homerThis is pretty awesome and, executive producer, Al Jean, understands the need to keep things fresh and interesting with the show. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jean said, “Well, it’s certainly us making it a lot harder on
ourselves than we have to, but the interest in it has been so enormous, it’s definitely worth it. When you have a show like this that has so many things going for it, you’ve got to use that capital and do interesting things because you can.”

When asked about his biggest fears going into a segment like this, Jean said, “There could be a snafu where we don’t get the question to Homer, that there’s a little bit of a glitch. But as I say, that proves it’s live. We’ll have a seven-second delay, so it’s not going to be any Janet Jackson sort of thing. Homer’s not going to take off his clothes.”

So, what could possibly go wrong? Jean has said that all questions and callers will be carefully screened before being put on air but, either way, this is going to be a really cool moment in television history!

The phone number to call has not yet been released but, keep checking back with us at Fan Fest News for more info as it becomes available. ‘Simprovised’ will air a week from Sunday at 8pm on Fox.
