‘Labyrinth’ Returning to Theaters for 30th Anniversary

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the theatrical release of the beloved 1986 film, Labyrinth. In order to celebrate, the film will be making a special comeback.

USA Today reported that Fathom Events will be bringing the film to select theaters around the country on September 11th and September 14th. Additionally, there will be a new anniversary Blu-ray, DVD and 4k Ultra HD release on September 20th.

The Blu-ray release will also have a 24 page “digibook” with rare behind-the-scenes photo and extras, an anniversary Q&A hosted by Adam Savage (Mythbusters) and a tribute to Bowie, who passed away earlier this year, in January. If you purchase through Amazon, you could get the limited-edition Labyrinth Blu-ray gift set with “mirrorbox” packaging based on the final scene from the film.

For fans flocking to the theaters to see the re-release of the film, the exclusive content will also be part of Fathom’s theater release.

Directed and co-written by Muppet creator Jim Henson, Labyrinth is about a 16-year-old girl named Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) who, annoyed by the fact that she has to babysit her little brother, wishes for him to be taken away. When this actually comes true and he’s taken, Sarah then has 13 hours to solve a complex maze in order to rescue her brother from the Goblin King (David Bowie).

We can’t wait for the re-release and bonus features! You can purchase tickets for the theatrical re-release through Fathom Events.
