X-Men Apocalypse: The Jean Grey and Cyclops Romance
The new X-Men installment has us asking a lot of questions. One of which being: Will there be a Jean Grey/ Scott Summers romance?
Bryan Singer, who has also directed X-Men, X-Men 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past, said to expect a different version of Jean and Scott.
“In the beginning, she’s the last thing he’s interested in. When he first comes to the mansion, Scott’s blind so he can’t see her. Suddenly he gets some glasses and now he can see her and he’s like ‘Oh! That’s Jean Grey.’ Both of them are misfits in a way. Other mutants have settled in with their powers. This is all new to Scott Summers and he doesn’t like it and he doesn’t like school. And Jean she has not only has
her telekinesis and her telepathy but she also knows inherently that something darker and more powerful is growing inside her and
she doesn’t quite know what it is.”- Singer.
Singer originally planned to dive deeper into the ‘Dark Phoenix’ saga for a third X-Men film, but due to conflicts, never happened. And
then X-Men Last Stand happened. But none the less, we shall see how Singer explores the ‘Dark Phoenix’ and the Jean/Scott romance when the film hits theaters May 27.
Jean Grey is played by Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner and Scott Summers is played by The Tree of Life’s Tye Sheridan.
