BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE…Isn’t happening

Last week there were several reports that Tim Burton, along with Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton, would be returning to make a sequel to the beloved cult classic. The word was the script was done and they were in pre- production for the film, however a rep for Tim Burton spoke to EW and reported that all of that unfortunately was fabricated information. Tim Burton is deep into the process of making the film adaptation for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children that is due out in September and after that wraps he is set to take on the live action version of the Disney classic Dumbo. Just let that simmer in your brain for a moment. What will Tim Burton’s live action Dumbo look like? Anyone taking bets the entire thing will just look like the creepy pink elephant scene?

For the last several years at different times cast members and Mr. Burton himself have shown interest in revisiting the ghost with the most, but nothing is in the works at this point. Burton’s original 1988 film follows the events taking place in a house that is haunted after a family moves in. The house is haunted by the previous residents who died played by; Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin, though they are terrible at haunting so they hire a professional in the form of Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice. Winona Ryder plays the goth daughter of the family that is currently living in the home and in true Tim Burton fashion chaos follows. It is really a funny film if you are a fan of Tim Burton and haven’t seen this I would be concerned, like what are you doing reading this go rent the movie!

In 1989 ABC aired a cartoon that was loosely based on the movie with the same title. It followed a mischievous ghost Beetlejuice and his best friend a mortal teenager named Lydia. Fox Kids later picked the cartoon up and it ran for four seasons
until it was cancelled in 1991. Being a child of the early 90’s I always looked forward to this one, considering I was terrified of Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice that is surprising.

Fans of the film are just going to have to keep re-watching the original because no matter how many times you say his name, Beetlejuice isn’t on the docket to return…yet anways!
