More ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender’ News – Cast, Release Date and First Look

Earlier today, we showed you the first image of Netflix’s new animated series, ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender’. Very little information, other than the title and the identity of the showrunners (Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra and Justice League) was known about the series….. until now!

This evening, Wondercon’s ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender’ panel revealed a great deal about the upcoming series. The Voltron Twitter Account live tweeted the panel and, here’s what we know, so far:

Dos Santos and Montgomery were first to arrive on stage followed shortly by Head Writer, Tim Hedrick (Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra). The cast was on hand to surprise panel attendees. The INCREDIBLE lineup includes:

• Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time) as Lance
• Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow) as Pidge
• Josh Keaton (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) as Shiro
• Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) as Hunk
• Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect) as Princess Allura
• Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) as Coran
• Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Keith (who, unfortunately was not in attendance at the panel)

Dos Santos and Montgomery plan to take Voltron on an unprecedented journey which is sure to bring the series to heights never seen before by the classic cartoon.

However, the series will also honor our nostalgia of the classic show by staying true to the original.
