Neil Patrick Harris Cast in ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Film
Netflix announced yesterday that Neil Patrick Harris will play Count Olaf in the new A Series of Unfortunate Events movie.
It seems fitting, as Count Olaf constantly terrorizes the children as they try and solve the mystery of their parents’ death.Violet Baudelaire will be played by Maline Weissman, and Klaus will be played by Louis Hynes. Sunny has not yet been cast.
Also joining the cast is former Rules of Engagement star Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket.
This is Neil Patrick Harris’s first series since How I Met Your Mother, which earned him four Emmy nominations. This will be a darker character, than his How I Met Your Mother role. We know he can do creepy as his portrayal of Desi Collings in Gone Girl was nothing short of disturbing.
The actor also hosted the 87th Annual Academy Awards and won the Tony for Best Actor in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He will also be starting production on a new theatrical piece, Alexander Payne’s Downsizing in the spring.
Paramount TV will produce the project and Barry Sonnenfeld will direct.
