‘Supergirl’ Recap ‘Solitude’

Supergirl Recap ‘Solitude’

This week, Kara faces off against Indigo, an alien who can manipulate and move through the cyber world. Indigo was banished to Fort Rozz and had a relationship with Non before Astra joined them in prison. You find out later that Indigo is the reason Kara and Fort Rozz made it out of the Phantom Zone. She was able to infiltrate the pod’s system and reboot it, but also tethered it to the massive prison.

Kara is still mad at Hank and the DEO and refuses to work with them. After Indigo’s first attack (turning all stoplights green), Winn gets to work on the code and uncovers Indigo herself. Because of this, the DEO decides to enlist his help to stop her. I have been waiting for them to bring Winn on and I hope it sticks. He’s a talented guy and is a little under appreciated when just working with Kara and James. Winn later succeeds in stopping Indigo by uploading a virus to her system.

Kara and James travel to the Fortress of Solitude in order to learn more about Indigo, and I was surprised by how little time they actually spent there considering the Fortress was a focal point of all the promos. I hope we get to see more of it in the future.

James and Lucy hit a severely rocky patch this week, and it was the end of the couple. Kara tries to explain to Lucy that Jame is incredibly loyal and a great man so that she will see that he really cares about her, but it backfires. Lucy realizes that James and Kara love each other and breaks up with him. Now I wonder what will happen to Lucy and if she will go back to the military. She might even start harboring sour feelings toward Supergirl. Luckily, James did not tell her the true identity of Supergirl.

Even though Winn succeeded in stopping Indigo, that isn’t the last we will see of her (which is great because Laura Vandervoort did a really great job). Non managed to get her back and she will be working with him. I think Indigo was involved with Myriad from the start, but went awol when Astra appeared. Now that she’s out of the picture, Indigo returned. Non also refers to Indigo by her true name, Brainiac 8. Because of this, I wonder if we will see Brainiac in the future. Maybe that’s what Myriad actually is.

The best moment of the episode is between Kara, Alex, and Hank. Kara shows up, saying that she will put aside her feelings and work with the DEO once more. Alex then confesses that she was the one who killed Astra. Kara starts to leave, but then embraces her sister. Hank makes to exit, but Kara holds out her hand to him. The three of them stand together, united once more. Kara may still be hurting, but I think that now she understands why Astra was killed. Hank and Alex are her family, and they were protecting each other and Kara.

Supergirl takes a two week break and returns March 14 with the episode “Falling.”
