Supergirl Recap ‘Childish Things’
Winn’s father, Toyman, has broken out of prison. Winn doesn’t take all this too well and is worried that he will end up like his father, who was normal until he cracked and killed six people. Toyman kidnaps Winn and uses him to get revenge on the man that ruined their lives. But this means Winn has to shoot him or Toyman will set off ten bombs scattered around a toy expo. Supergirl manages to save the day and Toyman is taken back into custody. Winn, however, is emotionally wrecked.
I am really glad that we got to see more of Winn this episode. The writer’s gave him a whole lot of depth. He used to appear all happy-go-lucky and would always do everything for Kara. On the inside, he is struggling. Winn is afraid of ending up like his father, who hid everything he was feeling until he finally snapped. Not wanting to keep everything bottled up, Winn tells Kara that he is in love with her, and has been for a long while. Kara doesn’t know how to react and just walks away. Poor Winn.
Honestly, Kara needs to stop pining over James, who ends up happier with Lana than ever before. Ms. Lang now works at CatCo and is like Cat’s new bestie. James was hesitant at first, but mostly because he was unhappy with his own job. Moving forward we might see him leave the company and not be a photographer anymore.
Things take a turn for the worse with Maxwell Lord. Alex and Hank find out about James’ infiltration of the building and decide to do their own digging. This involves Alex going on a date with Maxwell. Hank then assumes Maxwell’s identity to get into the secret room, but things go wrong and Hank is forced to erase the memory of the guard, something he had vowed to never do again.
Alex tells Kara about everything that happened and they all believe that they got away with their break-in, but they were very wrong. The last scene shows that Maxwell snuck a camera onto Alex’s purse. Kara comes home as Supergirl and Maxwell watches the whole exchange between her and Alex. Her secret is blown and they have no idea. Things are about to get really bad. I bet Maxwell goes after Alex first. He will then use her to get to Supergirl.
The next episode is entitled “Strange Visitor From Another Planet” and will focus on J’onn J’onzz.
