‘The Big Bang Theory’ Recap ‘The Opening Night Excitation’

Long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Well Pasadena. Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj are getting pumped for the premiere of
Star Wars, however, Amy’s birthday falls on the same night. Sheldon, of course, doesn’t see what the big deal is.

Struggling with this dilemma, Professor Proton comes to visit Sheldon and gives him some much needed insight, (Along with the fact that Jedi’s don’t wear underwear) and Sheldon decides to do the right thing and be with Amy on her birthday.

Sheldon asks Bernadette and Penny for advice on a good present: “The harp thing, the sheep thing, or the wild thing.” This news makes Penny break a wine glass.

“Then it’s settled. Amy’s birthday present will be my genitals.” – Sheldon

Penny and Bernadette then reveal Sheldon’s plan for coitus to Amy, and they take her out to get waxed and prepared. Her reaction to
this is priceless, because she feels the same that we have; she’s been waiting for so long that she has almost given up on that possibility.

Professor Proton comes back to assure Sheldon that if he’s “with the right person, everything will be ok.”

Sheldon goes over to Amy’s for her birthday and admits his gift to her. Once in bed, the two reveal their nerves and they begin the dance with no pants! That’s right, they actually have sex!

While all that was going on, the boys and Will Wheaton go to the premiere. Will wears his Star Trek uniform causing a scene in the theater and hinting that the new movie is bad. They watch the movie and everything is fine.

Professor Proton comes back again asking about how Amy’s birthday went and Sheldon talks about them seeing Star Wars, completely missing the question.

I’ll admit that I didn’t think Sheldon would go through with it, but he has grown so much this season that anything was possible. And the
teaser from last week basically told us what was going to happen, and I thought the worst. But everything about this episode was perfect! From the growth of Sheldon to the dialogue to reassuring the audience that J.J. Abrams continues to produce amazing
movies, everything was perfect!
