‘Arrow’ Recap ‘Brotherhood’

“My brother needed me. The
green one,”

-John
Diggle,
Arrow

Arrow
Season 4
Episode 7 was directed by James Bamford, and the ratings soared
even higher this
week than they
have been. Being Bamford’s first time directing, his work was
certainly
impressive to say the least. After
working on the set for many years,
he was finally given the opportunity to
debut as a director for the TV
series.
Mr. Bamford’s work was outstanding.

The episode
started off at a quick pace, with
Team Arrow attempting to disrupt the
G.H.O.S.T.S from what they believed to
be,
hijacking money that was aimed for Star City’s bank. When the
G.H.O.S.T.S burned
all the money, the
team came to the realization that Damian Darhk and his group
of H.I.V.E
members are truly aiming to see the
city die. Oliver is currently
running for mayor and being the Green Arrow
presents him with opportunities
that
other mayors never had. He knows what evil really lies within the city.
He knows
the man who is
essentially trying to destroy it and what he is capable of, and
can figure
out a plan to save Star
City.

On shows such as Arrow, Game
of Thrones
and even The
Walking Dead,
we learn that
just because a
character appears to be dead, does not necessarily mean that
they are. The
shocking
revelation that Andy Diggle still lives on and is under the thumb of
the
enemy was the centered focus of the
episode. Stephen Amell and the rest of
the Arrow cast and crew
promised us that we would be in for a
shocking
revelation. Well, they certainly
delivered!

“Trust is an
orchid.
Beautiful, but delicate. Requiring ideal conditions in order to thrive,

without those conditions, it dies.
Tread carefully, Quentin. Believe it or not
the death of your daughter is
not the most terrible thing I can
threaten you
with.”

-Damian Darhk,
Arrow

Neal
McDonough
continues to deliver an outstanding performance as our super-villain
this
season; probably one of the best
villains we have ever seen on the show.
The writers, on-top of stellar
acting from the actor, really paint
the picture
that Damian Darhk really is a man that everyone should fear. His
acting across
from Paul
Blackthorne has been steadily impressive, these actors clearly work
very
well together.

This episode
was the first in which we got to see
Damian interact with Oliver, as Oliver
Queen. It was clear that Damian
was under
the influence that Oliver is still a struggling, college drop-out,
and got the
impression that
he could control Oliver. Wrong. Damian’s threat to Oliver that
he would be
“unopposed” sent chills down
viewers spine. Damian already is trying
to take down the Green Arrow, and
now he has Oliver (as Oliver Queen)
in his
sights. If Damian sees Oliver as a threat and attempts to join the
race for
mayor, its guaranteed
that we will see Damian raise the stakes in Olivers
personal life. After
Oliver’s ending speech at the bay,
with Damian standing
there as witnesses, is it possible that Darhk now has
an idea that Oliver could
be
the Green Arrow? He mentioned that he would not stop fighting for the city…

and the Green Arrow, whose
speech Damian also viewed, mentioned something
similar…Hmm.

The majority of the episode was Oliver-Diggle centric, a true
delight
after how their
relationship ended last season. While Diggle may not have full
faith in his
brother, “Brotherhood” was a
perfect title for this episode, as we
can certainly see that Oliver and
Diggle are once again like brothers.
During
the duration of the episode, Oliver constantly harped on Diggle that
he needed
to give Andy the
benefit of the doubt. His reasoning? No matter how much
darkness comes into
a persons life, he needs to
believe that they can come back
from it. We all know how much Diggle loved,
and even still loves his brother;

even though he may not admit it at the current moment. Diggle has carried
the
role of the big brother in
the team, and it seems as though he has constantly
got the short end of the
stick. It’s about time something
went his way, in a
positive manner.

Team Arrow succeeded in rescuing
Andy from Damian, which
was a
great success. Diggle may not realize it right now, but like Laurel and

Oliver stated multiple times, family
is one of the most important things you can
have… and to never give up on
them.

Many Arrow
fans are
anxious to know why Damian’s magic did not work on Thea, and in
fact, it back
fired on him.
Could Thea and Sara possibly be a major part in taking down Damian
Darhk? It
would make sense, especially
since Damian was so insistent on Captain
Lance not bringing Sara back
from the dead. Then again, we go
back to the
grave site from the very first episode. Could Damian somehow
figure out a way to
effectively
kill Thea? or Sara… again?

The flashbacks showed Oliver
finally
getting revenge on Conklin, who has
had it out for Oliver from the
beginning. We also saw another taste of
magic: when Reiter was interrogating

Oliver and Conklin. We really still don’t know what is going on with Lian
Yu,
even after four years.
Although the flashbacks have been brief, they have not
been disappointing.
In fact, they’ve been quite
suspenseful!

John
Barrowman returned to Star City to attempt to
“help” Thea with her blood lust.

He didn’t seem too pleased with the fact that Damian attempted to kill Thea.
We
can probably expect a
major showdown between the two of them at some point.
Damian seemed to
already know that Malcolm was the new
Ra’s, so who knows what
else he could possibly know?

Brandon
Routh also briefly re-appeared on the show, and
even though he is not the
same Ray as last season as far as
being extremely
witty and charming, it was still great to see him back. We
can’t wait to see
what else he
brings to the show.

Arrow will return December 1st,

following the Thanksgiving Recess. From
the looks of it, we can expect an
epic cross-over episode with The
Flash.
